Additional club members, particularly from our Toastmasters club executive, will hopefully begin to start posting here on our blog. It would be great to get other comments and opinions on the meetings of our club.
Clint will be posting here less often as he concentrates on his own blogs including;

Canadian Arctic Needs Motivational Speakers
When I think about the high drop out rates of Inuit school kids up in the Canadian Arctic as well as the general tough times the communities up there are going through, it's apparent that the region could use visits from motivational speakers. Only a quarter of the Inuit students will finish high school. Alcohol abuse and suicides are rampant. I would be more than willing to go up there as a motivational speaker and speak for free if my travel was paid for. Unfortunately, travel to the Canadian Arctic, especially flights, are very expensive. But if any government agencies or private organizations with interests in the Arctic are willing to foot the travel cost, then I'm in and I will be more than happy to bring both my adult motivational presentation as well as my youth talks.

Toastmaster Hoping To Tackle Inuit Teen Suicides
The occurence of Inuit teen suicides is unfortunately quite high and this is definitely an issue that government agencies are trying to tackle. I'm currently in initial discussions with one such person at one of these agencies on possibly doing some talks up in the Arctic to motivate the Inuit teens to make better choices in life. The one block of course is the travel expenses. If a number of groups up north including schools, colleges and especially the local government up there, could band together to fund such a trip, I would be willing to go up north, say in Iqaluit, to do a few inspirational talks for free. This issue is important enough to do such a project. Of course, this possibility is due to the training I've had at Toastmasters.
