Two Vacant Positions For Club Officers

As mentioned in today's club meeting, we have two vacant positions in our club executive;

Sargeant-at-Arms
Vice-President, Public Relations

To get a better idea of what these positions are all about, click on each of the two positions above. The back of your Competent Leader manual will also have a description of these roles as well.

If you are interested in any of these two positions in order to help our club out as well as to take on a new leadership position for your own development, please let either Susan or Clint know. There are no prerequisites except for the will to help out. All we ask is that you attend club officer training on either January 17 or 24, attend the majority of club exec meetings held the same morning of our first club meetings each month and have the desire to learn. We will train you. These club officer roles will also give you credit towards your Advance Leader Bronze award.

If there is only one interested member for any of these positions, that member will get voted in automatically. If there are more than one member going after the same exec position, then we will have a special election on Dec 20 where candidates present a short 2-3 minute campaign speech and the rest of us will vote.

These positions will be for the term Jan 1 to June 30/09.

Club Officer Training Tomorrow

For anybody who is interested in going over to the Club Officer training event in Waterloo on Saturday, Raj and I are meeting at the Rona store parking lot at 401 and Winston Churchill at 8:30 am Saturday morning.  You can join in our car pool.

New Changes To Our Toastmasters Club Executive

Here is a summary of the changes to our Toastmasters club executive.  Augustus Amul, VP-PR, and Celeste Amul, VP-Membership, both requested to resign from the club executive due to increased demands on their time from their careers.  We thank both of them for volunteering as club officers in the first place and hope that they will be future club officers at some point again.

Mario Moreno, Sargeant at Arms, switched his club officer role to become VP-PR.  Raj Kang was elected as our new VP-Membership.  So congratulations to Mario and Raj for their new club officer positions.

Toastmasters Educational Workshops

Toastmasters club officer training events are not just for elected club executives.  They are ideal for Toastmasters members who might want to check out potential club officer roles to see what they are like.   Also, these events have additional optional workshops on a variety of topics related to Toastmasters clubs.  The next such event is on August 23 in Waterloo.  Both Raj and I will be attending.  All other members of Comfortably Speaking Toastmasters are welcome to join us.  Here are more details of this training event;

Mississauga Toastmasters Club Officer Position Still Open

The VP-PR club officer position at our Mississauga Toastmasters club is still open for those members who want to get experience as a club executive.  Interested candidates should check out the description of the Vice-President, Public Relations at the TI website first before coming forward.

Also, club officers are expected to attend club officer training run by our district twice per year, once during the summer and once during the winter.  Upcoming training sessions are planned for August 23 or August 30.  Club officers also should attend our own monthly club executive meetings we hold from 9 am to 9:30 am just before the first club meeting of each month.
