Visit To Mississauga Valley Toastmasters

I visited Mississauga Valley Toastmasters club last night which is the home club of my friend Joe Vanderkooi.  Joe was a fellow area governor last term and I usually visit his club every few months or so.

Mississauga Valley Toastmasters went through a bit of a membership struggle last year and then managed to recruit quite a few new members.  What I was really impressed last night was the way the new members took on more responsibilities of the club.  Most of the present club executive are in fact comprised of the newer members.  Of course, experienced members like Joe are coaching them along the way even though Joe is not an club officer at the present moment.

Joe has done a really good job (and continues to) in coaching the new members in running the day to day business of the club and its meetings.  This is what I would like to see happen at our own Comfortably Speaking Toastmasters club.  Compared to Mississauga Valley Toastmasters, we are a larger club with more members so we should have enough people to take on more responsibilities of our club soon.
