Diversity and Personal Development

Since our communities are becoming more diverse, one of the ways we can all grow as part of our own personal development is to expose ourselves to more diversity. Get to know people from other cultures, races and countries. We have great opportunities to do this right at our own Toastmasters club. When doing so, you will likely be faced with lots of foreign sounding names. So it's a great idea to confirm people's names and don't be shy to ask how to correctly pronounce their names. When people see that you are making an effort to pronounce their names correctly, it really opens up communications and shows that you care enough. This alone is a skill that is great for personal development.
